Building Culture in your Community

A Webinar for Community Leaders, Volunteers, and Organizations

What does it mean to build culture in a community? Culture can take many forms, from arts and heritage to traditions, gathering spaces, volunteerism, and the everyday experiences that help people feel connected and welcome.

In this webinar, the Parkland Valley Sport, Culture and Recreation District and South East Sport, Culture and Recreation District will explore practical ways communities can strengthen their cultural identity and create vibrant places where people want to live, work, and belong.

Participants will learn how facilities, community institutions, local organizations, and volunteer groups can work together to create meaningful cultural opportunities. Through examples and discussion, we will highlight simple, achievable strategies that communities of all sizes can use to foster belonging, celebrate local identity, and infuse culture into everyday community life.

By the end of this session, participants will be able to:

Recognize the many ways culture contributes to community vitality.
Identify local assets that can support cultural development.
Explore strategies for making their community more welcoming and inclusive.
Discover practical, low-cost ways to enhance cultural opportunities and experiences.
