Cheer Story: Investing in Community, One Splash at a Time

On July 18, 2025, Kemoca Regional Park welcomed the community back for the opening of its new pool and facility, marking the beginning of a new chapter for one of the Park’s most cherished gathering places. Inspired by community voices and built through local support, the new facility reflects Kemoca’s ongoing commitment to recreation, wellness, and a strong, connected future for the area.
Kemoca Regional Park’s new pool and facility were inspired by a simple reality: the old infrastructure could no longer meet the needs of today’s families. Aging systems, accessibility limitations, and strong community feedback — especially from young parents asking for a spray park and safer water features for toddlers and non‑swimmers — made it clear that renewal was essential.
Investing in this project matters because the pool has always been one of the Park’s most valued gathering places. By modernizing it, Kemoca is strengthening a core piece of community infrastructure that supports recreation, wellness, and social connection. This type of investment also creates momentum for broader community growth. Strong recreation amenities make a region more attractive for families, help schools and childcare services thrive, and encourage local businesses to invest. In this way, the new pool becomes more than a recreation upgrade — it becomes a catalyst for future development in housing, education, and commerce throughout the area.
Community involvement was central to making the project a reality. Local fundraising, volunteer leadership, and strong public support demonstrated how deeply people value Kemoca Regional Park. A Park built on community vision and effort in 1971 has now been renewed by those same forces in 2024 and 2025.
The new facility features modern change rooms, improved safety and filtration systems, a redesigned pool suitable for lessons and recreation, a spray park designed for young children and swimmers of all abilities, and the upcoming completion of a waterslide in 2026. These enhancements ensure the space serves everyone — from toddlers discovering water play to seniors seeking low‑impact activity.
Public pools play an essential role in community life. They offer safe, affordable recreation, teach life‑saving skills, and bring people together in ways few other spaces can. The new facility will also continue to provide meaningful youth employment opportunities, giving local young people the chance to gain work experience, develop leadership skills, and stay connected to their community during the summer months. The hope is that this renewed pool and facility will strengthen Kemoca Regional Park for decades to come, attract visitors, support local economic growth, and continue to be a place where families build lasting memories.
