Cheer Story: National Volunteers Week: Celebrating Our Incredible Board of Directors

In celebration of National Volunteer Week, we proudly recognize and thank our wonderful Board of Directors for their dedication and service. The theme for National Volunteer Week 2026 is Ignite Volunteerism: A year-long, nation-building celebration!
Regan Lanning of Weyburn, Jordan Wall of Pilot Butte, Tim Eveleigh of Whitewood, Tina Clay of Weyburn, Skylar Antoniuk of Alameda, Merissa Scarlett of Estevan, Shelley Sargent of Carlyle, and Jacquie Van De Woestyne of Weyburn each bring passion, leadership, and a strong sense of community to everything they do.
As volunteers, they generously give their time, energy, and expertise to guide our organization forward, making a meaningful impact on the communities we serve. Their commitment does not go unnoticed, and we are deeply grateful for their continued support and vision.
Here’s what some of our outgoing board members had to say about their experience:
“After retiring from my town, I was eager to continue contributing my governance experience in a meaningful way. Having previously been involved with South East District services, joining the Board felt like a natural fit. My experience on governance boards helped set clear expectations, and serving with the district met those expectations completely. One of the most rewarding aspects of my board service has been contributing to the organization’s strategic direction and then seeing that vision brought to life through the dedicated work of staff. It has been truly fulfilling to play a role in guiding the District’s growth and impact within the southeast.”
“Every board member worked really well together as a team and we were all able to make informed decisions during meetings. Our policies among the board ensured accountability and ethical conduct within the South East District. Having the opportunity to help communities with sport, culture and recreation-led initiatives is very rewarding.”
These reflections highlight the lasting value of volunteer leadership and the positive difference our Board continues to make across the district.
