Cheer Story: National Volunteers Week: Thank You to Our Mission Staff

As we celebrate National Volunteer Week, we want to look back at the Saskatchewan Winter Games and take a moment to express our gratitude to the amazing Team South East Mission Staff volunteers who helped make the games a success.

Tina Clay⁠ of Weyburn, Kirscen Rulloda of Stoughton, Vickie and Rick Procyk⁠ of Fillmore, and Kathy Erickson of Weyburn, your dedication and commitment to ensuring the Games ran smoothly and efficiently did not go unnoticed!

We received some wonderful feedback about their volunteer experience at the games. One volunteer shared, “Each experience at the games is electric from the moment you arrive. The part that I enjoy the most is the Mission Staff teamwork and watching the athletes achieve their best or overcome setbacks. The games are not about the medals, but about the memories and friendships made during the games.”

Another volunteer shared, “A highlight is you see familiar faces of friendships you have built through the years, and you meet new friends that become part of your Mission Staff family. Being part of the Mission Staff working with the athletes and coaches is an incredible, humbling experience. This is their Olympic Games!”

“Volunteering truly fills my heart, and the friendships you make along the way are irreplaceable. I got involved in the Games because it’s an opportunity to give back and be part of something bigger than myself. If you’ve never been to any Sask Games, I highly recommend it. It really broadens your perspective on how different districts come together to create a full week of amazing experiences for the kids. It’s such a rewarding experience, and the energy and teamwork make it worthwhile.”

As volunteers, they all contributed in their own unique ways to make the Saskatchewan Winter Games a success. Whether it was supporting athletes, providing information, or offering a friendly smile, their dedication helped make this event a positive experience for everyone involved.
