Town of Whitewood - Recreation Technician

The Town of Whitewood is accepting applications for the position of Recreation Technician.

This is a full-time, permanent position reporting to the Facility Operations Manager.

Applicants will be involved in the daily upkeep and operation of all municipal recreation facilities and municipal greenspaces including but not limited to an NHL sized arena / 4 sheet curling rink, outdoor pool, ball diamonds, campground and parks. Experience working in a recreation setting an asset but not required. Experience in the operation and upkeep of equipment is also an asset.

General Duties will include:

Facility Maintenance
Ice Maintenance
Facility Cleaning
Customer Service
Greenspace maintenance
Pool Operation
Equipment Operation
Other duties as assigned

The applicant should be willing to pursue recreation facility certifications such as Arena Operator I, Arena Operator II, Pool Operator I etc. Certifications will be paid for by the employer. Current qualification of any of the above certifications is a definite asset.

Applicants must possess a minimum Grade 12 or GED, a valid Class 5 Drivers License or equivalent and be able to provide a Criminal Records Check.

Applicants must be able to work independently and as part of a team. The ability to effectively prioritize tasks and to work with minimal supervision is an essential skill needed to meet minimum expectations for this position.

Compensation will be commensurate with experience. This position is a salaried, 40 hour per week position with an excellent benefit package. Applicants must be willing to work evening and weekend hours during the winter months.
