Across Saskatchewan, many communities are experiencing the same challenge: programs are growing, but the people needed to coach and officiate are stretched thin. In a post-pandemic world with higher expectations and less free time, traditional approaches to “recruiting volunteers” aren’t enough.
This 60-minute, sport-specific webinar will explore how clubs can attract and retain coaches and officials by rethinking the volunteer experience. Rather than focusing only on numbers, we’ll look at what truly motivates people to step in, and stay, in these critical roles: belonging, support, clear expectations, and a sense of purpose.
Participants will gain practical, rural-realistic strategies for engaging parents, youth, and community members, building succession pathways from athletes to leaders, and creating club cultures where coaches and officials feel valued, supported, and proud to be involved. The session will include real-life examples, reflection, and a companion toolkit to help turn ideas into action back home.
About the Speaker:
Lauren Brett is a leadership coach who works with individuals and teams to build trust, elevate communication, and lead with greater authenticity and impact. She supports sport leaders, coaches, athletes, and administrators to navigate complexity with clarity, compassion, and confidence – whether they’re in high-performance environments, national organizations, or grassroots systems.
A Certified Integral Coach™ and Professional Co-Active® Coach (PCC), Lauren brings decades of lived experience in high-performance sport, the arts, and organizational leadership. She represented Canada as a rhythmic gymnast and later was a national team coach for a decade, earning recognition as Coach of the Year by the Canadian Rhythmic Gymnastics Federation. Her coaching style, both then and now, is known for blending emotional intelligence, care, and results. As one former athlete shared: “Lauren was a visionary whose goal was to develop happy and healthy gymnasts. Her confidence, her faith, was our motivation. She was a big influence on the individuals we have become because she gave us guidance through some of the most critical years of our lives.”
After retiring from sport, Lauren led operations at one of Canada’s premier performing arts training institution for 18 years, where she deepened her interest in shaping healthy team cultures and guiding leaders through growth and transition. Her work now integrates tools like the Nova Profile, The Leadership Circle™ 360, and ORSC (Organization and Relationship Systems Coaching), inviting people into courageous conversations and lasting change.
Her mission is to humanize leadership and change lives - one conversation at a time.
Lauren is the proud mother of two grown-up humans. Outside of coaching, you’ll find her volunteering with Haven Refugees, paddling a kayak on Georgian Bay, dancing, hiking, or chasing quiet moments in nature.
